Outlook 2013 with Bells & Whistles
Outlook 2013 features an inline reply and forward interface, allowing you to compose replies and forwards without opening a separate email window. Unfortunately, this feature prevents Bells & Whistles from inserting its automatic texts.
Until we update the add-in for you, Bells & Whistles for Outlook can not insert its automatic greeting / message options, if the above feature is enabled. While we work on the add-in update, you can still use Bells & Whistles by configuring Outlook to handle email replies and forwards the old way:
Open Outlook 2013, go to File -> Options -> Mail -> scroll down for the “Replies and forwards” section and mark the box named “Open replies and forwards in a new window”. Then click the OK button and you’re done: Bells & Whistles will now work properly.
I am a happy user of this wonderful program. Please, is there a new version in sight?
Hello,
Thank you for the support. We are currently working on compatibility with Outlook 2013, so this version should be available shortly. Else, we’re planning B&W v5, but that’s a secret! Ssshhh! 🙂
In Outlook 2013 Bells and Whistles is stopping me from sending outgoing emails. I keep getting messages something to the effect that the system administrator has limited the number of open files. Only by uninstalling Bells and Whistles was i able to get rid of these error messages and send outgoing emails.
We apologize for the Outlook 2013 issues. The fact is that Microsoft changed a lot on Outlook 2013, causing it to trigger errors when Bells & Whistles is being used. We have already fixed the vast majority of known issues, so we will release an update very very soon (1-2 weeks, at most).
Just so you know, version 5 of Bells & Whistles is fully compatible with Outlook 2013. In case you are experiencing problems with Outlook 2013, please make sure you are using the latest add-in version.
